Forbush Corner Nordic is proud to host three Michigan Cup races and to serve as one of the series' sponsors. The Michigan Cup is a collection of cross-country ski races held at various Nordic ski areas across Michigan's Lower Peninsula. While skiers are welcome to join a team, it’s not required—each racer earns both individual and team points at every event. The series features divisions for seniors, juniors, and the Brumbaugh Cup, which caters to more competitive skiers. For additional details, visit the Michigan Cup page on nordicskiracer.com.

Wintertime Fitness Try a XC Race

Do you enjoy running the occasional 5k or marathon as a way to stay fit and motivated? Many people thrive on the challenge of testing their fitness through races, always pushing for personal bests. Beyond the competition, there’s the camaraderie that comes with participating alongside others who share a passion for staying active. But as winter arrives, activities like running, cycling, paddling, and open-water swimming become less feasible. So, why not try cross-country skiing—and maybe even an occasional XC ski race?

The Michigan Cup offers a perfect opportunity for those looking to stay active during the winter months. This race series features cross-country skiing events that vary in distance, from just a few kilometers to up to 40 kilometers. One of the standout locations for these events is Forbush Corner Nordic, which has invested in snowmaking technology capable of laying down 18 inches of snow over a 3.3 km course, ensuring a high-quality surface for both races and training.

If you're new to skiing, don't worry! Forbush Corner Nordic offers lessons from PSIA-certified instructors, whether you're looking to learn classic skiing or try skate skiing for the first time. So, why not add a new winter challenge to your fitness routine? Whether you opt for a freestyle race, where both skate and classic techniques are allowed, or a traditional classic race, cross-country skiing could become your new favorite way to stay active in winter. Give it a try!
