Forbush Corner Nordic is thrilled to announce the next step in expanding year-round outdoor recreation opportunities: mountain bike trails are on the way! As part of our ongoing “Four Seasons at Forbush” capital campaign—Expanding Opportunities and Advancing the Legacy—we are bringing a long-envisioned dream to life.
Five years ago, when Forbush Corner became a nonprofit organization, we adopted a mission to offer world-class cross-country skiing while also providing opportunities for other outdoor activities like snowshoeing, hiking, and mountain biking. Our vision has always been to become a premier destination not just for skiing, but for year-round trail-based recreation.
Thanks to generous supporters, we’ve raised $44,000 specifically for mountain biking, and we are excited to share that we have signed a $50,000 contract with Flowtrack Mountain Bike Trails, LLC, a highly respected trail-building company known for high-quality, sustainable design. Phase one of the project—approximately one mile of trail—is set to break ground this summer, with completion expected in early fall.
This is just the beginning. The total goal for the mountain bike portion of the campaign is $400,000, which will fund approximately eight miles of professionally built trails designed for riders of all skill levels. Fundraising continues as we aim to add another seven miles of trail over the coming years.
We are grateful to everyone who has supported this effort so far, and we invite others to contribute to this exciting new chapter at Forbush. Help us build trails that will be enjoyed for generations by donating here: To donate, you can use the Support Forbush button to connect to the PayPal giving fund link
or mail us a check at PO Box 118, Gaylord, MI 49734.
Follow Flowtrack’s trail-building projects on Instagram to see the kind of high-quality work coming soon to Forbush. Stay tuned for updates as we begin construction this summer—we can’t wait to welcome mountain bikers to the trails!

It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a month since the severe ice storm swept through northern Michigan, causing widespread tree damage and bringing our ski season to an early close. While surrounding communities have been hard at work with cleanup, Forbush Corner Nordic now faces its own long road to recovery.
We’ve walked all the trails and are developing a full clean-up plan. Some areas will need large equipment and chainsaw crews; others just need “tossing teams.” The snowshoe trails still need attention, and Roberts Road and parts of the ski-only sections remain unassessed—we’re hopeful Crawford County will assist, but nothing’s confirmed.
Over the past few days, we have started the work. Huge thanks to Joe, Kim, Jack, Ryan, Mary, Tina, Barb, Mike, Ann, Linda, Gary, Ernie, and Carole for getting us this far. Thanks to their help we have accomplished trail clearing on the following:
If you were not able to help the past weekend, Watch the facebook page for future workdays. You can also let us know your availability. We can match you with a trail section and provide guidance. Every bit of effort will help.
Like Dave Forbush, many individuals share a deep passion for the outdoors and Nordic skiing. To honor the legacy of some of these remarkable individuals, the following memorial contributions have been made:
Memorial contributions like these serve a dual purpose: they honor the memory of loved ones while supporting meaningful causes. By directing funds toward Forbush Corner these gifts help sustain and grow programs that align with the passions and values of those being remembered.
Such memorials create a lasting legacy, enabling families, friends, and the community to contribute to something greater than themselves. They provide an opportunity to celebrate lives well-lived while making a tangible difference in preserving and enhancing outdoor spaces, fostering community, and promoting activities like Nordic skiing for generations to come.
